The difference between oilite bronze and super oilite is the higher strength and hardness of super oilite, but lower speed rating in bearing applications. Super oilite powdered metals are made by a powder metallurgy process. Also known as oil impregnated iron copper or sintered iron copper, SAE863 super oilite iron coppers have large interconnected pores which are vital for channeling lubricants to the areas between the shaft and bearing.
